You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Please ask me if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information. Take time to decide whether or not you wish to take part.

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to observe how sleep quality, sleep quantity, job hours and perceived stress affect a student’s academic achievement. Both individually and in co-ordination with each other. The study also aims to observe if academic achievement can be predicted by sleep quality and quantity alone, or if the additional factors of job hours and perceived stress should be taken into account.

Why have I been chosen?
You have been chosen to take part in this study because you are an undergraduate student currently studying at a UK University.

Do I have to take part?
No.  It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you do decide to take part you will be asked to complete a consent form. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw up to two weeks after you complete the study. To withdraw from the study you should email the researcher via the contact email provided, stating the codeword you will be asked to provide later.

What will happen to me if I take part?
You will be asked a series of questions with instructions on how to correctly complete each stage. There will be a wide variety of questions some regarding demographic information, such as job hours, academic achievement, gender, ethnicity etc. Following this you will be presented with two questionnaires which will determine sleep quality, sleep quantity and perceived stress.

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
There should be no risks to participation within the current study, however if at any point you do deem yourself at risk, please do contact the researcher by email and withdraw from the study by closing your browser.

What are the possible benefits of taking part?
